I make many different kinds of
    unique
    staffs.
I have been making hiking sticks, trekking poles, canes, and festival staffs for 25 years. Each staff is kiln dried for strength and to keep the wood from splitting. Hand crafting retains the natural beauty of the wood and lacquering preserves this for years to come. Each staff is hand created and accented with a rubber tip for stability on any surface. I love to make these trekking poles so they will last for years to come. When I pick up one of these
    naturally
grown Ozark staffs, I do not know what it will look like until I work with it for a while and explore the natural
    potential
of the grain and the root pattern. I offer a variety of woods , shapes, sizes, and designs. Some of these woods are oak, persimmon, cedar, sassafras, elm, hickory, sumac, ash, and
    sycamore
    .
    Some designs are:
    - Regular straight staffs with a smooth bark finish.
-Canes with a root for a handle and with or without a variety of spiral patterns.
-Tall staffs with spirals and/or roots.
-Cedar with bold knots and/or spirals only on top or from top to bottom.
-Staffs may have spirals from top to bottom, or the spiral
    pattern
may be interrupted with a smooth round
    surface
    to make a nice handle.
-Some staffs have a burnt line that follow the spiral for contrast.
-Staffs may also have a torched burnt black or brown finish covered with
    lacquer
    .
This type of finish can make the grain stand out and produces a harder and smoother finish.
-I have twisted a rope around some staffs in the bottom of a small groove.
This makes the spiral really stand out.
-Staffs can be more for show, costume play or festivals while others are for hard core hiking.
Each root cane or walking stick yields its own individual personality.
Which one of these will fit your
    unique
    personality?
